Characters
Kite (CV / Sayaka Aida)
One of the legendary PCs (player characters) called ".hackers" from the online game "The World." Once used the power of the "Twilight Bracelet" entrusted to him by Aura to resolve a far-reaching virus incident whose reprecussions stretched even into the real world. He is currently equipped with a new Twilight Bracelet. Has a warm and calm personality, and is an excellent leader, though he can worry too much about things. In real life he's a junior high school student.
BlackRose (CV / Masumi Asano)
One of the .hackers, the same as Kite. She pursued the truth of the virus incident in order to save her younger brother, who fell into a coma while playing "The World." She and Kite have known each other since around the time they both started playing, and operate together due to getting along so well. She is a little short-tempered and direct, but she has a cheerful personality and tries to never to show weakness, even when things get rough. She is a high school student in real life, and sometimes lectures or berates the younger Kite in a sisterly way.
Aura (CV / Maaya Sakamoto)
An NPC created by the developer of the "The World," Harald Hoerwick, to become the ultimate AI. Has the ability to grow by learning how to think like a human. While being pursued by the controlling program of "The World," Morganna, who wanted to shut her down, Aura sent a message to Kite asking for his help. Learning about the human heart from his subsequent struggle, she finally performed a very human act, sacrificing herself. However, a few months later she was reborn, and she now watches events unfold as the will of "The World."
Monsters
Skeith (CV / -)
One of the eight Phases created by "The World" management program, Morganna, in order to destroy Aura. Attacked Kite's friend, Orca, at Morganna's behest, sending him into a coma in the real world. The red wand Skeith carries is said to contain the minds he has stolen from PCs. This is the first Phase, "The Terror of Death." Skeith has the ability to cause status ailments on PCs.
Skeith Zero (CV / -)
The original form of Skeith. One of the eight Phases created by "The World" management program, Morganna, in order to destroy Aura. Contains the consciousness of Sora, a PC who cooperated with Morganna to begin with but ultimately turned against her. Skeith Zero also eventually split into eight, one of which acts as vanguard in the continuing pursuit of Aura.
Stehoney (CV / Noboyuki Hiyama)
A Golden Goblin. Characterized by being extremely fleet of foot. An underling of the other Golden Goblins, the "Four Goblin Kings," who are Jonue, Zyan, Albert, and Martina. Once challenged Kite to a game of Goblin Tag.
Stehoney R (CV / Noboyuki Hiyama)
A Golden Goblin. Characterized by being extremely fleet of foot. A member of the "Four Goblin Kings" and the second one to challenge Kite to a game of Goblin Tag. The R stands for "Racing."
Stehoney T (CV / Noboyuki Hiyama)
A Golden Goblin. Characterized by being extremely fleet of foot. A member of the "Four Goblin Kings" and the third one to challenge Kite to a game of Goblin Tag. The T stands for "Turbo."
Stehoney X (CV / Noboyuki Hiyama)
A Golden Goblin. Characterized by being extremely fleet of foot. A member of the "Four Goblin Kings", and the forth one to challenge Kite to a game of Goblin Tag. The X is simply an attempt to look strong and cool.
Goblin (CV / Toru Nara)
The lowest ranking monster in "The World." Attacks using a sword.
Headhunter (CV / Hitoshi Bifu)
An undead monster carrying a massive sword and a skull. Simply swings its sword with all of its strength.
He[dhu&__er (CV / Hitoshi Bifu)
An undead "Headhunter" monster that has been enhanced by having its data rewritten by a Data Bug in "The World."
Headless King (CV / Hitoshi Bifu)
An undead monster carrying a massive sword and a skull. As well as swinging its sword with all of its strength, it also uses magic.
Fiend Menhir (CV / -)
A stone statue of a monster sitting cross-legged and holding what looks like a human head. Mainly attacks by taking advantage of its weight to crush its foes.
Statue Menhir (CV / -)
A stone statue of a monster sitting cross-legged and holding what looks like a human head. As well as taking advantage of its weight to crush its foes, it also attacks with magic.
Sphinx Menhir (CV / -)
A stone statue of a monster sitting cross-legged and holding what looks like a human head. As well as taking advantage of its weight to crush its foes, it also attacks with magic.
Terms
"The World"
An online game that has become a hit around the world. The high quality experience it offers has garnered a lot of attention and praise. However, at one time it also suffered from numerous errors and unexplained occurences that even those managing the system did not understand. The cause was finally revealed to be the control program for the game, Morganna, attempting to prevent the birth of the ultimate AI, Aura.
PC
The name given to the characters controlled by the players in "The World" - their avatars inside the game. Although originally nothing more than characters in a game, a network virus once caused problems with PCs that also had an effect on the player in the real world. It was the .hackers, including Kite, who resolved this crisis.
Eight Phases
The name given to the eight parts that the control program of "The World," Morganna, split herself into in order to destroy Aura. They worked to spread the virus through the game and caused a variety of errors, but were defeated by Kite and his allies.
Mac Anu
A town that exists on "Delta Server," one of the multiple servers that comprise "The World." The first town that players of "The World" come to, it sells gear and items aimed at those just starting out on their adventures. There is a teleportation device called a "Chaos Gate" in the middle of the town, and by entering combinations of a variety of specific keywords many different locations can be traveled to.
