A PC in the sequel to The World, "The World: R2".

As he gathered new companions, he learned about AIDA, an AI data anomaly not bound by the rules of the game world, and he discovered that he possesses a special power known as an Avatar.
For a time after Shino was lost, Haseo kept strictly to himself and avoided contact with other players. But one he met Atoli, a PC who looks like Shino, and Kuhn, who went out of his way to warn him about the dangers of Avatars, he learned the value of using strength to protect rather than attack. In time, his PC evolved through Job Extend quests, reflecting Haseo's own growth as a person.
He is socially awkward by nature, and his contemptuous attitude still comes out at times, but inside his heart is slowly becoming warmer and more compassionate.

The World
An online game that has swept the world, no pun intended. Offering players a chance to experience a tantalizing alternate reality, it has garnered massive amounts of attention and praise.
However, while glitches and problems with online games are sadly nothing the gaming public is unfamiliar with, The World at one point developed particularly odd errors and weird occurrences that even system administrators could not explain.
Finally, it was discovered that the disturbances were caused by the control program for the game, Morganna, which was attempting to prevent the birth of the ultimate AI, Aura.
The Morganna crisis was eventually resolved, and players began to return and enjoy everything The World had to offer. Unfortunately, a few years later, the game's developer suffered a huge disaster, and almost all of The World's data was lost. But even as players were mourning this loss, a sequel known as "The World Revision 2" (R:2 for short) was released.
In time, R:2 gained more and more players, and over a year after it went on sale, Haseo logged in for the first time.
PC
The name given to the characters controlled by players in The World; in other words, their avatars inside the game.
Although PCs were originally supposed to be nothing more than characters in a game, a network virus once caused problems with PCs whose effects even extended to real-world players.
It was the .hacker, including Kite, who resolved this crisis.
Eight Phases
The name given to the eight parts that the control program of The World, Morganna, split herself into in order to destroy Aura.
They worked to spread the virus through the game and caused a multitude of errors, but ultimately they were defeated by Kite and his allies.
The Phases are composed of special data known as Epitaphs. In The World R:2, there are some special PCs with Epitaph data built into their character bodies. Haseo's PC is one of these, containing the data for the first phase, the Terror of Death.
Mac Anu
A town that exists on Delta Server, one of the multiple servers that comprise The World.
The first town that players of The World come to, it sells gear and items aimed at those just starting out on their adventures.
There is a teleportation device called a Chaos Gate in the middle of the town. By entering specific keywords in various combinations, players can travel to many different locations.
AIDA
An entity that exists outside the bounds of The World's specifications. Its name is an abbreviation of "Artificially Intelligent Data Anomaly".
Essentially a virus, when it infects PCs within The World, that PC's emotions are amplified to the point that they lose all rational thought. All feelings and desires that they had been keeping under control burst to the surface in a flurry of unbridled emotion.
The countless black bubbles that appear whenever AIDA manifests are a kind of intermediary that lets AIDA infiltrate The World.
Avatar
A manifestation of powers that exceeds The World's specifications. Originally known as the Eight Phases, this power is derived from a special type of data called an Epitaph that is built into a select numbed of special PCs. These PCs, known as Epitaph Users, are the only ones who can make use of Avatars.
The names, forms, and abilities of each Avatar possesses are different for every Epitaph, but they all share the ability to perform Data Drains, a technique capable of defeating AIDA.
Although Avatars are powerful enough to defeat ordinary PCs with a single blow, they also amplify the darkness that resides in their users' hearts, sometime reaching the point where the user is no longer able to control their power with discretion.
Outer Dungeon
A spacious dungeon that exists outside the bounds of The World's specifications. Ordinary PCs are incapable of even seeing these dungeons.
Inside, they are made up of aggregates of countless pieces of fragmented data. They are home to bug monsters known as "Outer Bugs" that wander the zone and attempt to eliminate all intruders.
